Johnny, wearing his distinctive straw hat, used to be at the corner of Crow Lane every weekday morning from 05:00 until 10:00 come rain or come shine. Welcoming motorists and bike riders making their way into the city with a cheerful wave and cries of 'God bless you' and 'I love you'. Sadly, Johnny passed away in July 2016 at the age of 93. RIP - and thanks for the happy memories on my early morning commute.
